Sequence and waiting times

After you have prepared your face with a (pH) toner you can start with the real work. Basically, after the toner you can start with the thinnest product (essence) and finish with the thickest (moisturizer).

Every product needs to be applied to damp skin! So never wait until your skin has fully dried up to continue with the next step, this way the skin will find difficulties in absorbing moisture and nutrients from the products.

1. Exception: eye creams
Although most of the products we sell are very gentle, yet they are often not specifically tested on the skin around the eyes because this is not required for non-eye care products. It is therefore wise to nourish and protect the thin and sensitive skin around our eyes with a product that has been specially made and tested for that area.

Some might use an eye cream before the essence / serum step and others might say it should be done afterwards. What we at Haru Haru recommend is to start with your eye care before you start with the rest of your face. This way you are assured of a safe area around the eyes. - You will tense less easily to use a product there (unconsciously) which may not be suitable for around the eyes.

2. Exception: AHA / BHA / Vitamin C serum
Products with a low pH value (acidic) works best at the beginning of the routine in combination with a clean skin. Therefore, use these after cleansing in the example sequence:
Cleansing> pH Toner> AHA / BHA / Vitamin C serum> Essence toner / Essence> Serum / Ampoule> Moisturizer

Sometimes these products also require a longer absorption time, so please wait 10 ~ 15 minutes before continuing for the best effect. However if your skin is rather sensitive and/or dry, dehydrated, consider using these products after your toner and/or continue your routine without the waiting period.

Also pay attention to sun protection in the morning if you use these products due to their exfoliating effects ... So wear a sun screen with SPF30 or higher protection.

3. Exception: facial oil
Face oils usually need 10 minutes to be fully absorbed and even after absorption there is still a layer of oil on the skin barrier, which is very nice in the evening to provide the skin with hydration and protection.

However, this will not be convenient during the day because the facial oil can break down your BB cream / foundation and other make-up. (Oil melts away oil)

That is why we advise you to leave the face oil during the day, if you are planning to use makeup.

Sun protection

1. Application
Apply sun protection in the morning as the last step of your skin care routine before you continue with make-up.

2. Waiting time
Does your sun protection contain mineral filters such as Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide (such as the Oh My Sun Protection from Yadah)? Then you can leave the house immediately after application, but if your sun protection only has chemical filters and none of the mentioned ingredients above, then you will unfortunately have to wait +/- 5 minutes (previously 10 ~ 20 minutes on older formulas) until the product forms a good protective layer.

3. Re-applying
It is recommended to protect yourself again every 2 hours against the UV radiation. Are you outside the whole day and you will want to protect yourself again, it might be difficult. -- Fortunately, besides BB/CC creams with SPF in cushion format, there are nowadays also sun protection in cushion format available, which makes it very convenient to take along. Or you can DIY a SPF cushion of your used compact.
